Curious George Birthday Cake

DSC08680 For Vanilla Cake:
  • All purpose flour 1 1/2 cups
  • Butter 1/2 cup
  • Sugar 1 cups
  • Eggs 2
  • Baking powder 1 1/2 tsp
  • Vanilla extract 2 tsp
  • Half and Half (Milk) 1\2 cup
 Vanilla butter cream frosting:
  • Unsalted butter - (1 cup room temp)
  • Confectioners' sugar - 4 cups
  • Heavy cream - 2-4 tbsp

How to Prepare Vanilla Cake:

Cake preparation:
  • Pre-heat the oven to 350.
  • line  3 pans (6"x2") with parchment paper  and spray them with non  stick cooking spray
  • Take the butter into a bowl and beat it on medium speed using a hand mixer for a minute.
  • Now mixing it slowly, add sugar, beat it for 2 more mins and mix thoroughly.
  • Add eggs one at at a time and beat it thoroughly.
  • Add the vanilla and keep mixing. Now slowly add the flour and half and half milk alternating and keep mixing.
  • Now mix all the items thoroughly until they combine well into a batter.
  • Divide the batter into the pans and spread it evenly.
  • Now bake them for 10 to 15 mins until the cake is done.
  • Poke the cake with a toothpick and take it out. The toothpick should come clean after you take it out of the cake.
  • Allow to cool it for 30 mins.
Vanilla Butter cream frosting: 
  • Beat the butter using a stand mixer or hand mixer on medium speed until it becomes creamy, for 2 minutes.
  • Now add confectioners' sugar, cream and mix slowly for 2 minutes.
  • Now mix it at full speed for 3 mins , until desired consistency is attained
Assemble the Cake:
  • Trim the tops of the cakes to make level if needed using a Serrated Knife
  • Place one cake layer ( bottom side facing up) on a cake board and spread half a cup of frosting
  • Place the second cake layer ( bottom side facing up ) on top the frosting. repeat the same with third layer  and  decorate  cake with remaining frosting in the pattern of your choice
